Merakey Total Health is hosting a free Colon Cancer Screening event on Wednesday, March 27 at 27 E. Mt. Airy Ave. in Philadelphia. All community members are welcome to stop by between 11:00am and 6:30pm. The Open House event will feature free colon cancer risk assessments, healthy snacks and giveaways, educational information, and tours of the new health center.

The event will feature dynamic speakers, including members of the Philly boxing community, who will discuss the importance of cancer screening and provide information designed to help patients meet improve their overall health and wellbeing. Merakey Total Health staff will be available to help people who are looking for a new primary care doctor to set up appointments. Staff will also be available to help individuals with insurance enrollment questions. 

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. But there is something that you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones: If you’re over 45, you should have a screening for colorectal cancer. You can talk with your primary care doctor about what screening tests are right for you. If you don’t have a primary care doctor, Merakey Total Health is now accepting new patients. This open house event is a great opportunity to speak with our providers to learn more about what colorectal cancer is, the symptoms and risk factors, and how you can lower your risk.
